When your parents are among the most successful recording artists in the world (OK, one a little more successful than the other), then following in their footsteps should be a good thing.
Unless your name is Bobbi Kristina and your parents are Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown and the way you're taking after them is by showing signs of an alleged drug addiction—which is exactly the reputation-compromising rumor swirling around the 17-year-old today.
Word is that Houston and Brown put aside their considerable differences and together joined forces to stage an intervention for their daughter. Believable? Sure. Unprecedented? Not in the slightest. But is it true? Well hold onto your 12-step pamphlets, this rumor is…
So false!
“There is no truth to the reports about Bobby and Whitney staging an intervention with their daughter,” Brown's rep told E! News.
The rumor—which likely gained traction not only because of her parents' past indiscretions, but because Bobbi Kristina has been no stranger to her own set of personal demons—was started by the National Enquirer, which is printing the allegation in its Dec. 20 issue.
According to the tabloid, Whitney and Bobby even went so far as to bring in drug counselors—after supposedly “reading the riot act” to their daughter—in an effort to help her avoid the substance issues that have plagued both of them.
Which, incidentally, would have been an admirable and responsible way to handle the whole thing. If only it had been true.
